Not really an alien but, seen up close, this Monarda ‘Squaw’ appears like something from another planet. Flowers like elongated claws, a galaxy of stars and a mini-version of the same bursting out of its head! The extended growth seemed quite common on this plant, which I saw at RHS Wisley on Saturday. It must produce a flower and then discover extra reserves of energy so keep on growing.
