For me, one of the most fascinating discoveries (not in this talk but from some of the open seminars at work) is that, even without adding any additional chemicals or stem cells, natural regeneration can be encouraged just by inserting a material of the right structure — in technical terms, a scaffold — into the body. I get lost on some of the science but this appeals to the designer in me: shape is vitally important.
