There were still plenty of chores to be done at home today but we decided to get some benefit from glorious Bank Holiday weather and head across to the RSPB reserve at Otmoor to start our morning. It was a good choice and we enjoyed watching hobbies and lapwings as well as enjoying the madcap song (and occasional glimpses) of reed warblers.

Later on in the day we’ve got some of those pending chores chalked off the list. Even if we had started on them at the crack of dawn I am not sure we would have made it much further through them but this way we’ve had a chance to enjoy a splendid local site of great natural beauty and interest and that has been the most worthwhile achievement of all.
