This morning’s photographic experiment was trying to take a picture through one side of a pair of binoculars:
The result was not a resounding success but I thought it interesting that, because I failed to line up the lenses properly, the image shows both the normal view from my 50mm lens and the equivalent down the 8×40 binoculars. It brings the subject much closer (enough to see details on the chimney pots which are otherwise invisible) but at the cost of substantially less light and rather blurred detail.
Overall, it is not entirely promising but might bear some further investigation, at least on bright, sunny days.
