As I was cycling to work today, I narrowly missed a squirrel which obviously hadn’t paid attention to Tufty and dashed out across the road in front of me. Fortunately, for both me and the squirrel, it was fast enough to make it across my path without becoming a bespoke wheel decoration. One of my cycling colleagues had similar encouter with a slower-moving rabbit two or three years ago, which caused a serious crash.

On this case, it was a quiet back road and it was over so quickly that I didn’t even have time to jam on the breaks or skid! Still, it was a (sq)real close call!
