Good Friday and, at last, the time for the performance of the Cowley Road Passion Play.
I now have two roles in the proceedings. In the first couple of scenes I play Judas Iscariot, a simple and non-speaking part. It is not the kind of part that I might have picked but someone has to play it. Could the events of that fateful weekend have happened without the betrayer? I can see that the answer could well be yes but the historical record suggests that, whatever choice Judas faced, he did betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
My other role is as an agitator in the crowd, calling for Jesus to be crucified. I’m not doing well under this typecasting regime, am I?
Fortunately I have been able to make less villainous contributions as well, in the form of some graphic design (that’s my logo work) and website development. No time to rest my laurels right now though: I’ve got to get my costumes ready for the performance.
The show starts at 10:30am outside the Methodist Church on Cowley Road, where it is joined by Jeune Street.
