I had been planning a shot with my double bass for yesterday’s shot but I was at home using up a day in lieu and the flow just seemed to go in a different direction:

Wulf baking biscuits

After getting back from the library, I decided that I wanted a cup of tea. Then my thought train took me via “a biscuit would be nice too” and to “why don’t I knock up a quick batch”. It did take me the best part of an hour to get my cup of tea. The recipe was from Nigella Lawson’s How to Eat (Chatto and Windus, London, 1998, pp496-497): 175g spelt flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 45g oatmeal, 30g demerara sugar, 45g lard, 45g unsalted butter, milk to combine. The result isn’t overly sweet (certainly less so than the commercial versions) but was successful enough that I will try it again.
