Richard Stallman visited Oxford University recently and addressed a capacity crowd at one of the lecture theatres. I couldn’t make the event but the recording is now available (in Ogg Vorbis format of course — no patent-protected MP3 for him). It is quite a long talk, the best part of two hours, but worth a listen.

His views are strong, partisan and perhaps sometimes verging on the paranoid but radical voices like his have a role to play. They are far out but ensure that the middle ground doesn’t end up being inherently conservative.
