My blog has been a bit text heavy for the last couple of weeks so here is a picture to brighten things up. This is an Escallonia bush that is in our new back garden, identified with the help of the What plant is that? group on Flickr. I had been minded to drop it from the garden but it is our biggest single plant (where we need height and most stuff is much lower) and has now come into a glorious flowering season.

Maybe it will stay after all.
