I am still using the same set of weekday socks I started in Januarylast year. Darning rather than disposing of them greatly extends theirlife. This time round, I have also only been wearing the socks duringthe day rather than in the evening too and they to be doing betterthan the first lot. They are getting less cumulative wear but, by now,that effect should be evened out. It is probably also due to the sockshaving more time to rest rather than being worn to the point whereholes are more likely to develop.
