Yesterday’s gig went well – a few clams dropped from the bass end but nothing unforgivable, given the minimal amount of rehearsal, and good music making happy punters.
I think the highlight of the night for me was Layla. It turned up quite early in the first set and we hadn’t run through it at all, so I was curious how it would fit in with the “avoid all the big guitar solo songs” ethos (not having a dedicated lead player on board). It still works surprisingly well when you strip out all the Clapton-esque wailing. Fresh and tasty!
