Last night I attended my church not as a congregant or leader but for the public meeting being held there about the future of the Hither Green area. It was absolutely packed, well beyond expectations. Furthermore, the attendance wasn’t fuelled by rancour about some unpopular proposal but by a generally positive desire to see the area developed with ideas from the recent consultation process taken forward into reality.

It’s not a bad area anyway but I left last night optimistic that it has a good chance of improving further. I’m looking forward to the publication of the full report on the council’s website – meanwhile, there are still the community website and forum for those wanting to get involved with other local people via the web.
