Today I enjoyed a blackbird singing, not in the dead of night but in the middle of the afternoon. What made it so special is that I was rehearsing some songs for Sunday morning in a friend’s garden and the bird sounded so much like it was joining in with us. We’d sing a phrase and, where a lead guitarist or other instrumentalist might insert an answering phrase, our friend in the tree would step in. All creation sings God’s praise!
