Remembrance on the village green day. Well, suburb green but this kind of event leans on Thorpe Acre’s village roots. As I understand it, the village was separate from Loughborough town until a spate of post-WWII development that has continued in fits and starts ever since. It feels like the kind of community thing a village would do. A good turn out to mark this solemn but important annual marker.
More on Sunday – in the morning service (10:30am) and back on the green for a fuller community commemoration with laying of wreaths (2:45pm for 3pm).
