This is a Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura), which I saw on my trip to Canada earlier this year. If you click on the image to view it on Flickr and look at its neighbour, you will see I also managed to get a more ‘traditionally’ exposed and focused shot although it has to admitted that a lensbaby lens (focused by manual bending of the lens and relying on manual settings) is never going to be a great choice for capturing detailed images of birds!
Anyway, I like the energy and space in this one… perhaps an idea to try working up as a painting. It gives an impression of what I saw rather than a slavish representation.
