We spent today in Cromer and my researches had alerted me to a piece of work by street artist Banksy:
It would be fair to say that there isn’t much of it left! Painting on a sea wall was never likely to last although I wonder if it had some help. The reports I saw described it as scratched but now it is barely there at all.
Is that part of the nature of this kind of art? The fact that it isn’t protected in a museum but left exposed to the elements for the knowing to seek out and the many to pass by oblivious is part of the medium and the medium is at least part of the message (hat tip to Marshall McLuhan).
For reference, if you do a search for something like Cromer Banksy you can probably find a photo of what it looked like shortly after it was discovered.
