Apparently, as well as being a Scottish outlaw of the early modern period, a Rob Roy is also a cocktail similar to a Manhattan (whiskey + vermouth) but made with scotch rather than rye whisky. Very pleasant although I’m not sure about the addition of cocktail cherries, which pull it in a sweet, almondy direction. The flavour was pleasant but I’m always cautious of drinks which mask the alcohol with sugar! One, as a pre-prandial, should be okay however.
