From Rehearsals to Performances

As we move through December, several of the musical projects I’ve been working on are getting to the point of performances. For example, on Friday and Saturday I am playing with the Charnwood Symphonic Wind Orchestra at St James the Greater Church (Oaks in Charnwood) and the Carillon shopping centre in Loughborough respectively. After that, one more CSWO rehearsal and one final performance at All Saints with Holy Trinity on Monday 19th.

The Charnwood Concert Band has one more rehearsal this term and then we’re playing at my church (All Saints Thorpe Acre with Dishley) on Friday 16 December. We’ve got 30 people to squeeze onto the stage so it will be a bit tight up there but should be a lot of fun too, with various carols, seasonal songs and a few movie and musical themes thrown in too.

I get an outing with Charnwood Training Band too, also at Thorpe Acre church. The band will play a few pieces at the start of our carol service and, in return, support the choir and organ in supporting the congregation. I’ll also be ‘conducting’ the choir (to be honest, mainly dancing to the foundation laid by the organ) and leading a couple of more contemporary songs on electric guitar (6pm on Sunday 11 December).

Further details of all those on the Charnwood Concert Bands website.
