Earlier this year it was announced that all people on lower council tax bands would get a £150 rebate and I’ve finally got the money in my account this morning. As I don’t pay my council tax by Direct Debit, I had to receive a letter by email then take it down to a local Post Office, where I could get it paid straight into my account via my bank card.

I could have had the payment as cash instead and I assume there are affordances for those who can’t receive notifications by email. So far, I’ve been fortunate and I’ve not felt the cost of living crisis too directly (apart from the eye watering prices at petrol pumps) but it will be a help and I’m glad to mark that one fully received.
