Good for the Winter

We should be good for the winter and beyond for firewood, having just had two cubic metres of seasoned hardwood delivered this afternoon from Stragglethorpe Firewood, a little way over the border into Nottinghamshire. It was free deliver but only for deposit on the drive at the front of our house, so Jane and I then had an hour and half of moving the wood further back onto our property and getting it stowed in appropriate places in our storage system.

This load was mainly birch with a bit of cherry. We can mix that in with the stuff we already have that is seasoned and, assuming it is not the kind of hard winter where we want the fire burning a long time most days, we’ll probably still have some left when more recent additions to our collection are ready.
