If you know Henry Moore’s Sheep Piece sculpture (which I saw on display at RHS Wisley last summer), you will probably realise that this isn’t a very accurate representation of it:
I probably should have spent a while working up some drawings to grapple with the mass of the subject before jumping into paint. I think it is rather heavy, as a consequence of trying to bring it into line with wet paint. Still, at least there is some nice granulation from that ultramarine blue.
