They say hindsight is 20/20, which probably overstates how well we can judge where we’ve been. Right now, we can at least enjoy vision for 2020, if not 20/20 vision for the future.

Have I got any New Year resolutions? Not formally – I gave those up a long time ago. However, given that I’m a professional musician and a ‘professional’ Christian for the first time in my life, I’m looking to work on a couple of strong intentions:

• Musically, I want to avoid frittering away the opportunity to develop a range of skills beyond just keeping up with current challenges. I’ve proven multiple times that I can do that but I want to get back to developing skills beyond what I immediately need.
• Faith-wise, I want to spend more time in prayer and reading the Bible and to make time to deliberately cultivate seeds of grace and joy among those I have the privilege of working with.

Oh, and I’m going to see if I can get my paintbrushes out more frequently too.
