Last night, I finally got around to uploading the first of my sketches from the summer school – waiting in the hall for everyone else to turn up!

Because we wanted to avoid problems getting parked up, Jane and I rocked up to the site early and had quite a wait before the hall began to fill up… an ideal opportunity to get my pen out and do a warm up sketch.

I’m pleased with the result. The proportions aren’t quite right but it has a bit of depth from the receding size of the table markers and the balance of tones also works well. Overall, it makes me think of some classic 20th century cartoon styles. Not a bad beginning.
