Oxford Summer School 2019 – 4

Today’s subject was the bones and muscles of the pelvis and legs. After lunch, the teacher sat in some poses to illustrate the systems discussed in the morning. I decided to use my drawing pen and to do several quick sketches per pose.

I thought I’d only keep a few of them but, an hour or so later and 25 sketches up, I decided they worked quite well as a set. Even in one of the simplest, like that below, you can see that there is the suggestion of anatomy – look at the knees and you will see that I’ve managed to indicate the form of the joints rather than just using two simple curves.

Something from all this study is rubbing off! See the full set of drawings (and more) as part of my summer school album on Flickr.
