Landscapes are difficult things to draw. So much potential detail but it is easy to put too much in and end up with clutter. Exhibit A below, from a walk at nearby Stratfield Brake:
This was from ten or so minutes observing and drawing. Probably what it really needs is several repeats of the exercise in situ although perhaps I could do some work back in the studio to redraw a few times, seeing what could be left out each time. Or perhaps I should go back to trying to draw my garden (another subject that tends to come out cluttered and messy when I’ve tried it) and work on simplifying my approach to that.
