I got back safely from Soul Survivor earlier today. A good week, not least for the chance to catch up with some old friends on the site (although not all of those who were somewhere there in the throng). I have to confess that I find part of the pleasure of camping is coming back and enjoying the relative luxuries of home, like clean toilets and showers, stocked with paper and shampoo and without any queues.
For tonight, I can enjoy it… but I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of people are spending yet another night in one of the world’s many refugee camps. Spare a thought and prayer and perhaps more for those who endure such conditions solely to survive and without being allowed back into luxury after a mere five nights of what is still leisure rather than necessity.
