I’ve been up on the church roof this afternoon, painting some of the recently renewed fittings with SmartWater. This is an expensive liquid that fluoresces under UV light and also contains a unique signature for each location it is used in. If anyone now clambers round up there doing damage, they are likely to pick up marks that would be highly incriminating in an investigation.
It was hard work – quite narrow gulleys and a lot of bending – but the idea of taking a spray bottle up worked out well. It was much easier to spray along the edges and brush into the joints than to try and do the whole thing with a brush alone. Sometime I’ll have to go back up after dark with a UV torch and see how it all lights up!
