I had a little spate of making hummus about three years ago but it didn’t become a deeply established habit. I recently bought another pack of dried chickpeas with the idea in mind to have another go. Jane set them to soak but I don’t think she checked the recipe book where I’d noted that a third of the recommended quantity (about 90g) was plenty!
One of my experiments from tonight is seeing whether cooked and frozen chickpeas make good hummus. That took care of about half the packet, leaving me with 270g to work with. The result? Tasty. The quantity? About the size of three regular supermarket tubs of the stuff! That’s probably why I made the note.
So, this week, I will mainly be eating hummus.
