Or, rather, how much have I cost the NHS? The Guardian recently published a guide on the subject. The answer for me at the moment is not a massive amount – a higher figure than I expected but safely within what comes out of my wages towards National Insurance.
Does that mean I’m getting a bad deal from they system? I don’t think so. Long may I have the privilege of getting out more than I put in. One day those tables may turn and, even if not, I am glad to have an opportunity to contribute to a system that helps those in need. The cost of contributing to the common purse is a small one indeed.
