The Christmas jazz jam at the Red Lion in Brighwell Cum Sotwell was a good excuse to break out the tune A Child is Born. Originally penned in 1969 by Thad Jones and Alec Wilder it is a beautiful, mellow waltz with a slightly odd overall form which seems to loop round a little earlier than expected. We didn’t get it quite right but I still relished the opportunity to play it.

The next session should be on 17 January although this particular tune may get left until next Christmas now.
