Another minor outing for the uke group tonight, playing at a party hosted by the daughter of one of our members. There wasn’t a large audience – in fact we had the garden almost to ourselves – but it is good to seize opportunities to play in front of even minimal audiences. While a certain amount of practise is a prerequisite for hitting the stage, I think that holding a song together from end to end while others might be listening (and not having the liberty to slow down over the difficult bits) is worth its weight in gold in terms of improving one’s musicianship.
