The colour theme of tonight’s cookery has been mostly purple. Beetroot soup (boiled beetroot, peeled and blended with creamed horseradish, balsamic vinegar and some water) and blackberry sauce (boiled with half their weight in sugar and a couple of cinnamon sticks). Both are a similar shade of purple… and with both I’ve had to be very careful not to slop their staining juices around!
