I had a couple of days this past week with meetings in various parts of Oxford but was able to arrange things so that I travelled from home instead of from work. What difference did that make? It meant that I could leave the laptop behind and just take my Nexus tablet instead.
A 7″ tablet isn’t great as a device for lots of input or serious computing, certainly without further peripherals, but it is small and lightweight. All I needed to be able to do was check a few URLs, some Twitter accounts and my email. I could have added short notes as well but, freed of the burden of the laptop in my bag, there was plenty of room for my regular A4 jotter.
I think that the tablet was the right tool for the job.
