At last our Greater Sea Kale (Crambe cordifolia) has reached the kind of display we hoped from it. We purchased it in 2011 (see the plant profile on my folia site) but had to remain patient. Each year we would visit RHS Wisley and see their Crambes in glorious bloom and ours would just have a few leathery leaves suffering mollusc predation.
Patience has paid off though and we finally have the centre piece display we intended. I don’t know how long the plant lasts for (perhaps we’ll get some seeds later in the season to start another generation) but, for now, we will enjoy the show.
