Visiting my parents this weekend, we took various plants down and returned with others. One unexpected addition to the stash was cuttings from a Kiwi fruit plant (Actinidia), which broke in the high winds we experienced.

Whether these will take or not remains to be seen as I’ve gone more by instinct than following any rules or careful method. However, since the worst case is that the broken branch gets composted a little later than it would otherwise have done, there is nothing to lose. Of course, if the opportunistic attempt is successful, we’ll then have to figure out where to grow it on! First things first though; it needs to survive before that becomes an issue.
