Today was a Bank Holiday in England and the weather forecast was excellent so Jane and I decided it was a perfect opportunity to go for a ramble. Our chosen destination was a walk around part of Wychwood, the remnants of an ancient forest, with a route circling from Chilson (a small village near Ascott-Under-Wychwood).
Probably the highlight of the day was investigating a tapping coming from a nearby tree. We thought it might be a woodpecker but it turned out to be a nuthatch banging away at the top of a pine. Plenty of other birds were heard but, as always, not so many were seen!
All told, a very enjoyable day.
