The Richness of Tradition

I had the pleasure of going down to a wedding the other day (congratulations to Rob and Joanne!). As well as the delight of the main event was the joy of the venue for the service, Highfield Baptist Church in Dartford. As well as being Rob and Joanne’s church, it is one to which I have a family connection. There is a richness in those traditions; that wooden sign at the front of the church saying “God cares for you” (1 Pe 5:7) is one my forebears have stood under and which they and many friends have laboured under.

This is a similar richness to that experienced in places like cathedrals, which have served as places of worship for hundreds of years but intensified by the personal connection, part of a chain that stretches back and back.
