The obvious attraction of Westonbirt Arboretum, which Jane and I visited last month, is trees. Lots of them; indeed, more than you could shake a stick at. However, we discovered that they also have a neat little bird feeding area tucked away quite close to the main cluster of buildings.

Blue Tit

It is a wooden construction with large windows covered by a one-way coating. That means that the visiting birds, like the gorgeous little blue tit shown above, come much closer than they would normally dare. It more than makes up for the darkening effect of the coating and also facilitates some zoomed in photos.

You can see more of my photos from the visit, including another bird image and, well, lots of trees in my Flickr set.
