Jane and I went to Headington Baptist Church last night to see Riding Lights perform Nearly the Goat, a wonderfully contrived version of the nativity story in which the eponymous goat, Nearly, takes a starring role. The production only features two actors but between them (and a few puppets and props) they draw you into the story, a reminder that you don’t need lights, pyrotechnics and other special effects for skilled performers to create remarkable theatre magic.
That was the last show in Oxford but they are touring through January 2011 — friends in South East London are advised to note the performance at Bromley Baptist Church on 20 January.
