Alun Vaughan, bassist extraordinaire, has just released a new album called The Kindness of Strangers. It is an electronic release, downloadable in a wide range of formats from his Bandcamp site, and all proceeds (you can pay anything from £4.50 upwards for the nine tracks and liner notes) go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
While whatever you choose to spend on it isn’t wasted, Alun hasn’t been content to dish up something second rate and the album is a real gem, sparkling with his not inconsiderable musical skills. For what a comparison is worth, Alun’s playing reminds me a little bit of the solo bass work of Colin Hodgkinson.
All in all, an excellent, 5/5 piece of work and a kindness to yourself as well as others if you choose to pick up a copy.
